Community health is the holistic well-being of the members in a certain area. To ensure that the health needs of the people in the community are addressed and residents receive the care they need, M Lhuillier, through its OPEC groups, conducted timely medical missions and provide health care services and seminars in different regions of the country
In Cotabato, OPEC Kulintang promotes family health and nutrition through an event called, “Malnutrisyon Patuloy na Labanan First, 1,000 Days Tutukan,” which is in line with the local government’s 47th Nutrition Month. During the event, the team gave away medicine kits for pregnant women and health center staff, M Lhuillier goodies, snacks, and nutritious lunch as well for everyone who took part in the event.
A medical and dental mission in the municipality of Balabagan, Lanao del Sur, was also organized by OPEC Kalilintad Agus with the help of the Rural Health Unit (RHU) to provide aid to the residents who have limited or no access to even the most basic medical services and facilities, especially the far-flung barangays. The OPEC team also gave away free medicines to the locals.
From organizing medical missions to giving away medicines, M Lhuillier and its OPEC teams continue to come up with projects that aim to improve the way of life of Filipino communities.
OPEC Panay Lontian Gems took things a step further by helping Barangay Loctuga in Libacao, Aklan rehabilitate their health center, which was badly damaged by the typhoon. Through this shared project, residents won’t have to travel far just to avail of medical services. They now have a comfortable and accessible barangay health facility in their midst.
DOH nurse Jeany Rose Navarette-Macero acknowledged the effort of M Lhuillier. “Hindi lang kayo nandito sa Libacao para magnegosyo, nandito kayo para magserbisyo. Hindi dahil ‘requirement,’ pero bukal at likas na sa puso niyo,” said Macero. “Salute po sa pamunuan ng M Lhuillier at nawa’y patuloy kayong maging inspirasyon sa mga nakararami,” she added.
