Helping each other in this pandemic is crucial to getting out of it together. Even before the COVID-19 crisis, M Lhuillier Financial Services, Inc.’s goal was always to aid communities in need.
Now, that we are in the middle of the pandemic, the OPEC have come up with different ways to help their respective communities. From health drives, donation drives, and care package distribution, the OPEC in their respective regions have accomplished the goal of helping their community in 2020.
Rice distribution by SAKO to the Upper Luinab and Bahayan Drivers and Operators Association (ULBADOA) #
Transport groups have been one of the most affected sectors during this pandemic due to the cease in public transportation in quarantined areas. This made the Samahang Kooperatiba
ng M Lhuillier Pawnshop Employees (SAKO) choose the Upper Luinab and Bahayan Drivers and Operators Association of Iligan City as their beneficiary. On September 9, 2020 there were 50 sacks of 5-kilo rice bags which were handed over to the ULBADOA. The members of the organization, who were mainly drivers, were more than grateful to have received this much needed help during this difficult time. OPEC Kalilintad also made sure that safety protocols were in place during the activity.

SAKO in partnership with OPEC Zambasulta-Vinta distributed relief packs on October 9, 2020 to the residents of Barangay Rio Hondo, Zamboanga. The residents in this area have suffered
greatly because their livelihoods and source of income became at risk at the start of the pandemic. Fifty households of Sama-Bajau and Tausug were given relief packs consisting of rice, biscuits, canned goods, noodles, and hygiene products.
On October 15, 2020, OPEC City - NCR Batanes along with DSWD-NCR and Paranaque City Social Welfare and Development Office distributed relief packs to Barangay San Dionisio,
Paranaque City. Fifty Sama-Bajau families received the relief packs and were grateful to M Lhuillier for the assistance. With continued efforts, the Sama-Bajau families will be able to get back on their feet.
One of the most important ways to help fight the COVID-19 pandemic is to increase public
awareness of the ways to prevent the spread. OPEC Panay Lontian Gems was able to hand over Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) materials to the Aklan Provincial Health Office on December 12, 2020. The group was able to successfully distribute these materials to different terminals (tricycles, jeepneys, and buses) along with health kits to drivers that included tarpaulin and stickers about COVID-19 precautions.
