M Lhuillier, in cooperation with ML Cares Foundation, joined in the disaster relief operations to help the victims of Super Typhoon Rolly in Albay through “Operation Tabang”.
The OPEC Magayon team headed by Sandra Rose Cabrera, together with ALMASOR Regional Manager Inocencio Miego, Area Managers Joel Baliza, Emar Manere, and Berlita Torion, and selected staff members distributed food packs, hygiene kits, sleeping mats with blankets, and boxes of water purification tablets to over 500 families from the municipalities of Guinobatan and Malinao. The victims were evacuated from their homes, which were either severely damaged or buried under volcanic rock and mud flow.
The first wave of the relief operations took place in Guinobotan, Albay on November 18, 2020. A day after, the second wave of distributions was successfully done in Malinao, Albay.
Another Typhoon Hits the Philippines #
A few days after Super Typhoon Rolly, another strong storm raged the Philippines in the form of Typhoon Ulysses. Filipinos were once again clamoring for help as hundreds of Filipinos were displaced by severe flooding.
M Lhuillier swiftly heeded the call for immediate aid and joined the relief operations in badly-hit areas like CALABARZON, Bicol, NCR, and Southern Cagayan Valley Region.
On November 17, OPEC BATANGAN, led by OPEC President Charity Baet, distributed relief packs to typhoon victims in Barangay Palanas, Lemery, Batangas. More than 60 families who were evacuated to the Lemery Municipal covered court were given sacks of rice, groceries, bottled waters, t-shirts, towels, and tote bags.
The company also extended help to various far-flung areas in Tuguegarao City and Cagayan through OPEC Green Valley, which is headed by Regional Manager Marlon Bangay and OPEC President Ruben Gapuz Jr.
The team distributed more than 1,000 family packs, which consisted of kilos of rice, hygiene and laundry kits, grocery items, a blanket, a t-shirt, and a sleeping mat, to evacuees in Barangay Namabbalan Norte inTuguegarao City; Barangay Iraga in Solana, Cagayan; and Barangays Abolo and Annabuculan in Amulung, Cagayan.
Donors from OPEC Pines, OPEC Mannalon, and ML University also sent their support to the relief operations.
