M Lhuillier Financial Services Inc.’s promise to be the Tulay ng PaMLyang Pilipino still remains at its core. But more than just bridging Filipino families through its safe and convenient financial services, the company has also taken steps to assist communities across the archipelago.
The global health and economic crisis brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic has badly affected the Philippines as well as the rest of the world. A lot of Filipinos have lost jobs, business opportunities, and loved ones as we live through the most trying times.
But even with the current struggles that the world is facing, M Lhuillier Financial Services Inc.’s promise to be the Tulay ng PaMLyang Pilipino still remains at its core. But more than just bridging Filipino families through its safe and convenient financial services, the company has also taken steps to assist communities across the archipelago.
Ani Para sa KaPaMLyang Bayani #
One of M Lhuillier’s community initiatives is the “Ani Para sa KaPaMLyang Bayani” program, which helped farmers in remote areas, specifically in Dumagat, sell their harvest.
Since the pandemic started, the Dumagat farmers of Sitio Nayon, Sta. Ines, Tanay, Rizal have been struggling to distribute their crops to sellers and consumers alike. With the lack of an effective way to sell their goods, they were left with thousands of kilos of sweet potato, saba, latundan, taro, ginger, turmeric, papaya, chili, wild honey, and rice at risk of rotting.
To help the farmers, M Lhuillier, through OPEC City, acquired fruits and vegetables from them to be distributed to the company’s employees. The recipients of the goods are M Lhuillier’s hardworking frontliners who braved the public health crisis just to be of service to the Filipino people.
Motorbike Patrol #
M Lhuillier didn’t just help stimulate the Dumagat farmers’ means of income, but the company also helped mobilize the frontliners of Barangay Ilihan in Tabogon, Cebu.
On August 15, M Lhuillier, through OPEC LAKBAI, turned over a motorbike patrol to the barangay’s officials and tanods. The turnover was led by Area Managers Dennis Singco, Jessielou Salva, and Julius Barriga, along with selected OPEC officers and staff members.
The motorbike patrol would be of great help for the barangay peacekeepers in conducting surveillance patrols, strengthening their visibility, and speeding up their response times in case of emergencies.
The barangay officials, led by Barangay Captain Sherin Dichos, expressed their appreciation for the donation. For them, it is a strong symbol of M Lhuillier’s firm commitment to the community.
